Barcelona, the perfect place for your Secondary School Trip
Barcelona is Spain’s second city and with its range of amazing art galleries, unique architecture and historic monuments, this cultural hub is a great destination for students studying a variety of subjects.
The architecture and art of Gaudi dominate the city and the Sagrada Familia cathedral is an ongoing tribute to his work and influence. Students can experience his many works and the traditional Catalonian feel of Barcelona in the Plaza Catalonia, la Rambla and the Gothic Quarter.
Aside from art and architecture, the Olympic village and Camp Nou football stadium are popular attractions and are well worth visiting. Close to Barcelona is the holiday region of Costa Brava with all the usual Spanish holiday attractions. Staying in this area allows easy access to Girona and Montserrat and the theme park at Port Aventura.

Coach
Coach travel to Spain is still a popular option with many schools, however with the increase in the number of budget flight operators, many schools now prefer to travel by air. Please do ask for an itinerary by coach if this is your preferred option.
Flights
Many regional airports in the UK offer low-cost flights to Barcelona or Girona. Rondo is happy to book these for you, along with transfers and daily transport when in Spain.
- Day 1: Flights and transfers to Barcelona or the Costa Brava area if preferred.
- Day 2: Visits within central Barcelona to include: Sagrada Familia, Parc Guell, Picasso Museum, the harbour and la Rambla.
- Day 3: A day of visits outside the main area to include the Spanish Village, Olympic Stadium and Camp Nou stadium.
- Day 4: A fun day at Port Aventura theme park or a visit to Montserrat.
- Day 5: Transfer and flight home.

- Olympic Stadium [A C H L G]: Although made ready for 1929, the Olympic stadium was not used until 1992 and is now one of Barcelona’s favourite attractions.
- Parc Güell [A C G L Sc G]: This is one of the major Gaudí attractions in Barcelona and pre-booking is advised to be sure of seeing all his wonderful creations and stunning views of Barcelona.
- Sagrada Familia [A C H Sc G]: Gaudí’s great cathedral is still under construction but offers a unique opportunity to see his exquisite work.
- Picasso Museum [A C H G]: The permanent and visiting exhibitions of the Picasso Museum will leave a lasting memory of Barcelona and will help art students understand Picasso’s formative years.

This is a large purpose-built youth centre on the edge of Barcelona, close to the airport. Rooms are large and the whole building has a spacious feel. There are also the added advantages of its own indoor pool and outdoor floodlit play areas.
Costa Brava Hotels
For a more luxurious stay in Catalonia away from the city's bustle, we can use some of the hotels along the Costa Brava coastline. It may suit some groups to stay in a leisure resort and only visit the city for specific visits.
