About this tour
The Opal coast located in Northern France overlooking the English Channel. It stretches for 120km and is made up of sandy beaches, dunes, cliffs, and seaside resorts.
The destination presents several investigative field work options for both human and physical geographical topics. From the conservation of Quiberon dunes to the impacts humans have had on the River Aulne.
The area has a good variety of visits and activities. One visit we recommend when wishing to cover marine geography is to the Nausicaa – National Sea Centre. One of the largest aquariums in Europe houses exhibitions on several marine topics.

Sample Itinerary
We recommend a minimum 3-night, 4-day Itinerary. As we tailor make each itinerary, we can create an itinerary perfect for you from the length of the tour to the activities and visits.
- Day 1: Travel via coach to Dover. Cross the channel and arrive in Calais. Before transferring to Brittany, stop off at the Nausicaa National Sea Centre, which is not just an aquarium, as it has exhibitions covering various areas with marine geography.
- Day 2: Morning drive to Quiberon and investigate the protection of Quiberon dunes. In the afternoon drive to Carnac and visit the Carnac Megaliths and Carnac Museum of Prehistory an opportunity to learn about human geography, the areas of sustainability management and tourism.
- Day 3: Spend the morning conducting a river study on the River Aulne. There are many accessible points along the river to record the changing characteristics as it makes its way to its destination on the roadstead of Brest. In the afternoon head back to Brittany coast for a sailing activity on the Atlantic, a fantastic opportunity to learn more about marine geography.
- Day 4: Travel via coach to Cherbourg. Cross the channel and arrive in Poole and continue back home.
