Stratford-upon-Avon is the birthplace of William Shakespeare set on the banks of the river Avon. Why not combine a visit to a performance by the famous Royal Shakespeare Company with the famous sites connected with Shakespeare’s life and family? The Royal Shakespeare Company, the Royal Shakespeare Theatre and Swan Theatre are home to the internationally recognised Royal Shakespeare Company.
The RSC performs the works of classical and contemporary writers and Shakespeare productions. The Shakespeare Houses and The Shakespeare Centre There are five beautiful houses and gardens brought to life by enthusiastic, experienced guides.
Step back in time and visit Shakespeare’s Birthplace and learn what it was like for him growing up as a boy. Walk along to Chapel Street to see Nash’s House, owned by Shakespeare’s granddaughter’s first husband – Thomas Nash. Discover Hall’s Croft the beautiful family abode of Susanna, his daughter, and her esteemed husband Dr John Hall and learn about the 17th century medical practices and ghostly goings on.
It is only a short trip out of town to Anne Hathaway’s picturesque and romantic Cottage where William wooed his bride to be. Mary Arden’s House and the Shakespeare Countryside Museum are a few miles further from where you can experience 500 years of farming and rural life. Shakesperience: An exciting introduction to some of William Shakespeare’s greatest works and his life and legacy using the latest technology and special effects of the time.
It is at the Waterside Theatre, a venue for theatrical, cultural, and musical events in Stratford-upon-Avon. River Avon Cruises Take in the 15th century Clopton Bridge, Royal Shakespeare Theatre and Holy Trinity Church, the site of William Shakespeare’s Tomb, while on a 45-minute sightseeing cruise. The Falstaffs Experience One of Stratford upon Avon’s most exciting and unusual tourist attractions offers an educational, fun journey through time.
The museum is in the 16th century Shrieves House Barn. The haunted museum offers an informative yet theatrical glimpse into history, from the most glorious to the ghastly and the hilarious.

Day 1
Early coach transfer from school to Stratford-upon-Avon. Morning visit to Shakespeare’s Birthplace and exhibition, Anne Hathaway’s Cottage, and Nash’s House. Time for lunch (for your own account). Afternoon visit to Mary Arden’s House & Hall’s Croft. Board your coach and return to school.
A Suggested Two-Day Tour
Day 1
Early coach transfer from school to Stratford-upon-Avon. Morning visit to Shakespeare’s Birthplace and exhibition, Anne Hathaway’s Cottage, and Nash’s House. Check into your hostel. Early dinner. Transfer by coach to the Royal Shakespeare Theatre for your evening performance.
Day 2
Morning visit to Stratford – Including Mary Arden’s House & Hall’s Croft. Board your coach and return to school.
